concept for midterm project

This is a first attempt at using Adobe Illustrator (bare with me). The idea for half of the project is: constructing an acrylic box then filling it with found objects from the creek. On the outside of the box, we would draw maps indicating sections of the creek (preferably on vellum or a semi-translucent material). on the map we would highlight zones and areas of interest to us as interesting facts or information.

we're coming close to our midterm due date. debating we have desires of building a two dimensional topographic map utilizing materials found from glen canyon park. i'm interested in the transformation of found objects such as natural materials and trash as a unified piece of the park. i'm still a little inexperienced with google maps and google earth. the more i've practiced, the better. I know it'll be second nature sooner than later. somehow i'd like to incorporate sound. if not in this project, the next would be ideal.
